Description
This is a terrace of 13 houses built between 1853 and 1856. The houses are made of yellow brick and feature slate mansard roofs with dormers behind a coped parapet. They are two storeys high, with an attic and basement. Houses 1 to 3 have three bays, while houses 4 to 13 have two bays. The ground floor has banded stucco rustication. There are steps leading up to square-headed, pedimented doorways with proud panels on the architraves, and recessed four-panel doors with oblong overlights. The windows are sash style with margin lights; those on the ground floor have stucco cornices and bracketed sills, while those on the first floor have eared and shouldered architraves made of stucco. The interior has not been inspected. The terrace also features cast-iron area railings with spearhead standards. Numbers 1 to 32 Merrick Square form a group of buildings of special architectural interest.
