Description
Denmark Place Baptist Church is a two-storey classical building constructed in 1823, as indicated by the date on the keystone of the central arch. It is made of stock brick and features five bays, with a pedimented gable end facing the road. The first floor has three deep round-arched recesses that hold windows, while the central ground floor window is flanked by doors. These elements are framed within a stucco panel that includes impost blocks and keystones, supporting a stuccoed frieze beneath the eaves cornice. The tympanum of the pediment contains a blank round keyed recess with a relief of a Tudor rose. The modern small-paned windows have stuccoed heads with keystones. The ground floor features four-panel doors set in stucco frames, topped with console bracketed cornices and pediments. The outer bays have doors with long flank panels above. Access to the church is via six steps leading up to a stylobate, flanked by short screen walls with gates. The sides of the building have six bays, each with long round-arched windows above segment-arched ones below.
