Description
This is an early 19th century terrace of eight houses, numbered 56 to 63 Walnut Tree Walk. Each house is three storeys high with an attic and a basement set below ground level, and each has two windows. The roofs are mansard style, originally slated but with later 19th-century dormers. The terrace is arranged in pairs. The houses are built of stock brick with parapets; some rebuilding has occurred at the top of the facade. Number 56 has a stuccoed ground floor. The windows are sash windows with gauged flat brick arches, and approximately half have glazing bars. The front doors are made of six fielded panels, each topped with a cornice and an elliptical fanlight within a moulded architrave featuring a key block and impost string. The doors are framed by doorcases comprising panelled pilasters and a console bracketed dentil cornice. Cast iron area railings with spearhead standards and urn finials are present. Number 56 has lost its original doorcase.
