Description

This is a row of houses, originally designed as a group of detached villas built in the early to mid-19th century. The houses, numbered 64 to 80 Vassall Road, have now been restored and converted into flats. They are linked by a recessed garage and an entrance section, both of which are one storey high and include a basement. Each house is two storeys high and has two windows.

The buildings are constructed of stock brick, with a low-pitched hipped roof covered in slate. The eaves have a projecting soffit. A stucco band runs along the first-floor window sills. The windows are sash windows, with glazing bars on the first floor arranged vertically within moulded architraves. The ground-floor windows are tripartite, with a stuccoed frieze and bracketed cornice, and decorative cast iron window guards. Basement windows are set into shallow, segment-headed recesses.
