Description

No. 56 Old Church Street is a house dating from around 1725, with later additions. It has two storeys and features a five-window centre flanked by projecting wings that have pediments supported by brick piers at the corners. The building is constructed of brown brick and has a slated roof with a parapet. There is a brick band on the first floor, and some red brick dressings are present. The wings contain Palladian-style windows on the first floor, which have cartouches above the keys of relieving arches. Further additions have been made to both the left and right sides of the house, as noted in the Survey of London Volume IV.
