Description

Mallord House comprises two town houses, numbers 2 and 4 Mallord Street, built in 1911 to a design by Ralph Knott. The building is constructed of brown brick with a slate roof and has three storeys plus a basement. It features a symmetrical facade to Mallord Street, three windows wide. The central arched entrance has radiating tile and brick voussoirs, a stone keystone marked "Mallord House", an original door, and a leaded fanlight above. A two-storey corbelled oriel window is centrally positioned above the entrance, with casement windows and flush brick mullions to either side. Second-floor relieving arches are present. The building is topped with a parapet and pitched roof, except over the central section where the roof drops to eaves over the oriel, revealing a lead gutter with a hunting scene in relief. A large central chimney stack and three dormers are also visible. A one-storey wing extends to the left, containing a service entrance and garage. The return to Old Church Street features a gable and two windows. Area surrounds are present.
