Description

No 5 Kensington Square is a house built around 1876 in Flemish style. It has five storeys and a basement, featuring three windows on the main facade and two additional windows in the gable. The building is constructed of yellow stock brick with red brick dressings and has a slated mansard roof. The shaped gable displays the year 1876 in a stone cartouche. A brick dentil cornice is supported by flanking pilasters that rise the full height of the building. The recessed sash windows are topped with gauged flat brick arches, brick aprons, and segmental pediments on the first floor. The central window on the second floor features a pediment and a cartouche inscribed with "HP." There is a continuous bracketted wrought iron balcony at the first floor level, and a blocked doorway is topped with a bracketted pedimented door hood. The property is enclosed by cast iron railings.
