Description

A very fine pair of houses, likely originally a single dwelling, dating to around 1700. They are three storeys high with three windows each, topped by a single, pedimented dormer window. The houses are constructed of brown brick with red dressings, featuring painted brick bands between the storeys. A modillion cornice runs along the eaves. The windows are flush-framed with 19th-century stucco architraves. The ground floors have been stuccoed. Each house has a carved segmental hood over the front door; the one at number 12 is a replacement, while the original at number 11 is slightly cut into on the left by a projecting screen wall. The interiors feature panelling. These are considered the most important houses within Kensington Square, although they are situated close to Thackeray Street.
