Description

This is a terrace of houses at 3 to 15 Palace Gate, dating from the 1860s. The terrace is constructed of stucco and features a balanced design. Each house is three windows wide, with four storeys above a basement and a further storey in the roof. A continuous balustraded balcony, set forward, runs along the front of the first floor, incorporating Doric porches. The second-floor windows have pediments and balconies above them. Iron window guards are present on the third floor. A cornice is supported by consoles. Dormer windows have oriels with segmental pediments and ball finials. Tall, corniced chimneys are prominent. Cast iron area railings are present. Number 5 has an altered window on the ground floor, but otherwise the terrace remains in good, unspoilt condition.
