Description

No. 8, Palace Gate is a late Victorian house dated 1873, designed by J J Stevenson. The building is constructed of red and yellow brick, with Portland stone dressings. It has three storeys plus a basement and a roof storey featuring two shaped gables and altered brick dormers. A low porch leads to a one-storey square bay window on the right and a taller canted bay on the left. A first-floor iron-railed balcony is present. The building exhibits extensive carved and moulded brickwork, and has area railings.
