Description
Nos 3 to 12 Sumner Place is a terrace of houses built in the mid-19th century, designed in a restrained classical style. The buildings are constructed of stucco and rise three storeys with a basement. The ground floor features horizontal grooving, and each house has an Ionic porch. A continuous cast iron balcony, shaped like a crinoline, extends over the porticos. The first-floor windows are adorned with bracketed cornices and occasional pediments, while the top-floor windows have cambered heads. Houses 6, 7, and 12 project slightly forward and feature tripartite windows. House 12 also includes the addresses 53, 55, and 57 Old Brompton Road.
