Description
The French Institute is an institute built in 1937 by A J Thomas, with reception suites designed by Patrice Bonnet in 1939. It is located on a corner site and constructed of red brick with some cream faience. The building has two storeys and a basement, featuring six bays facing Queensberry Place. The first floor has coupled pointed windows with recessed brick panels above, while the ground floor windows are square-headed, separated by patterned faience piers. The entrance is located on the return to Queensberry Way, which includes a canopied entrance and a stepped oriel above. The building also has faience window tracery and a two-storey wing of six bays to the right. Notable interior features include a staircase and library that have survived.
