Description

No. 5 Cromwell Place is a mid-19th century terraced house constructed of stucco. The right-hand section features three windows and stands three storeys tall, with an attic and basement. The centre window on the first floor is adorned with a pediment. To the left, there is a two-storey extension that is three windows wide. The house has an advanced Doric porch and a rich dentil cornice, along with a pediment above the centre window on the first floor. A modillion cornice is present, and both parts of the house have cast iron balconies on the first floor. The area railings, made of cast iron, are robustly designed with decorative balls and spikes. A plaque from the London County Council indicates that this was the home of the painter John Lavery. This building is part of the overall layout of Cromwell Place.
