Description
The Church of St Paul is a church built in 1860, designed by architect James Edmeston as part of Onslow Square, developed by Sir Charles James Freake. This Gothic style church is constructed from Kentish ragstone. The front of the church features a balanced composition with a tower flanked by single bay wings. Each wing has pointed doors on the ground floor, with pointed windows above and a raked parapet. The tower includes a wide pointed doorway on the ground floor and a Perpendicular style pointed traceried window above it. Above this window is a circular clock face, topped by another pointed traceried window. The church has a lofty stone spire with corner pinnacles. Inside, the church is aisleless and has galleries on three sides, with a traceried window over the altar that contains stained glass.
