Description
Nos 66 and 68 on Old Church Street are houses built in 1936 by Walter Gropius and E Maxwell Fry, showcasing the International Modern style. The structure is made of concrete, with slate hanging and roughcast that are not original. The main block is three storeys high and two windows wide, with the windows being of unequal width. It features a rounded corner on the right side, which includes a strip window. To the right, there is a single-storey block that has a continuous strip window and two doors. Above, there is a roof terrace with an iron balustrade. The ground floor of the main block has been altered with the addition of a projecting porch and bay, along with replacement windows. At the rear of the main block, there is a two-storey range that also has a roof terrace, and a surviving staircase is present.
