Description
The Tomb of Percy Lambert, located in Brompton Cemetery, is a Grade II listed structure made of marble with leaded lettering. It features a broken column topped with a bay leaf garland, which stands on a three-stage pedestal. The middle stage of the pedestal is cubic and intricately carved with a motor car wheel that has broken spokes and an air valve. Dedications to Lambert's immediate family are inscribed on the vertical sides of the cube and the plinths. The epitaphs on the plinths dedicated to Lambert read, from top to bottom: 'A modest friend, a fine gentleman / and a thorough sportsman; The first man to cover one hundred miles in one hour / killed by accident at Brooklands motor racing track / whilst attempting further records October 31st 1913.'
