Description
1-4 and 4A Hyde Park Gate is a building dating from 1847, constructed of stucco. It features five storeys, basements, and an attic. The ground floor is vermiculated, and the windows have segmental heads with masked keys. There are Doric porches, and the building is decorated with triglyphs and dentils. A balcony is present, and the first floor has ornamented consoles and an open balustrade. The first floor windows are flanked by Ionic columns and topped with dentil pediments, while the second floor windows have segmental pediments and deep sills. Above the second floor windows is a Vitruvian scroll band, and there are cornices on consoles. The fourth floor windows are framed by giant consoles that feature bearded masked faces, with a cornice above. The parapet is adorned with spiked globes.
