Description
A group of terraced houses dating from around 1824, developed by Richard Laycock. The houses are built of yellow brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with stucco detailing. The roof is hidden behind a parapet. Each house has two storeys over a basement, with two windows. The basement of number 25 is stuccoed, as is the ground floor, featuring banded rustication. Steps lead to round-arched entrances with brick surrounds, wooden doorcases, and original panelled doors (except at number 25), topped with fanlights featuring decorative glazing. The ground-floor windows are round-arched with brick surrounds and have sashes with radiating glazing bars and margin lights. First-floor windows are flat-arched with brick surrounds. Number 23 was the home of actress Beatrix Lehmann from around 1960 to 1979.
