Description
Numbers 23-25 Compton Terrace are a pair of terraced houses built between 1827 and 1831 as part of a development by Henry Flower and Samuel Kell. The houses are constructed of brick and stucco, with slate roofs. They have four storeys over a basement and each has three windows. The ground floor and basement are stuccoed with banded rustication, featuring round-arched entrances with Greek Doric columns supporting cornice heads and original panelled doors. The windows above the ground floor have flat arches created with gauged brick. A sill band runs across the front, and there are continuous iron balconies to the first floor. Some of the original window glazing bars remain. The front is finished with a parapet. A first-floor cast-iron balcony is located at the rear of number 25. Area railings are present, with spearhead and urn finials, along with basement ironwork.
