Description

This is a row of terraced houses dating from the early 19th century, located on Canonbury Road in Islington. The houses are constructed of yellow brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with stucco finishes. The roofs are hidden behind a parapet. Each house has three storeys over a basement and features two windows.

The basement and ground floors are stuccoed and feature banded rustication. The doorways have round arches supported by fluted quarter-columns, a cornice, and a fanlight. Most of the doorways retain their original glazing and panelled doors, with exceptions at numbers 47 and 57. All windows are flat-arched, with the first-floor windows possessing a more prominent "piano nobile" design. The windows on the first and second floors have gauged brick heads. Balconies with iron railings decorated with anthemion motifs are present on the first-floor windows. Original sash windows are found at numbers 43, 45, 49, and 51 (on the ground and second floors), and at numbers 53 (on the ground and first floors). Cast-iron railings are present at the area.
