Description
26 St John Street is a terraced house dating from the early 19th century, with later alterations. It is constructed of multi-coloured stock brick and features a red-tiled double-pitched roof. The building stands four storeys high and has a two-window range. Originally, it had a wooden shopfront, but this has been replaced with a metal blind that likely covers a garage entrance to the left. The house door is intact, featuring a reeded doorcase, double panelled doors, a reeded cornice, and a patterned fanlight above. The upper windows are flat-arched and have gauged brick heads, and there is a parapet at the top of the building.
Inside, the house contains an early 19th-century staircase. The first floor has two early 19th-century fireplaces, while the second floor features a panelled wall in the back north room, and there are panelled rooms on the third floor.
