Description
No. 22 St John Street is a terraced house with a shop on the ground floor, dating from the early 18th century. It is constructed of brown brick laid in Flemish bond, accented with red brick dressings, and has a tiled roof. The building stands four storeys high and features a two-window range. The ground floor has a projecting shop front, likely from the 19th century, which has not changed much in its overall shape, although few significant details are now visible. The upper windows are flat-arched and have dressings made of gauged red brick, with the frames set almost flush against the wall. There is a brick band between the first and second floors, a moulded brick cornice above the second floor, a parapet, and a hipped dormer in the roof.
