Description

Numbers 21 and 23 are a pair of terraced houses built around 1840, although they were altered or rebuilt in the 20th century. They are constructed from yellow stock brick laid in Flemish bond, featuring a banded stucco ground floor and stucco dressings. The roofs are obscured, and there are brick stacks at the center. The houses follow a side-hall entrance plan and are two storeys tall with a basement, each having two windows.

Low steps lead up to the entrance located in the outer bays, which features a doorway with fluted quarter columns, a corniced head, a rectangular overlight, and a panelled door. The windows are 6/6 sashes throughout. There is a stucco sill beneath the architraved first-floor full-length sashes, which have bracketed consoles supporting a cornice and cast-iron balconettes. A stucco cornice with a blocking course is present, and the altered roofline is extended by a stucco gable at the center, flanked by swept-up ends. Additionally, there are attached cast iron railings with urn finials.
