Description
Numbers 41 and 42 Lloyd Baker Street are early 19th-century terraced houses. They are constructed of yellow brick in Flemish bond, with stucco dressings, and have slate roofs. Number 41 has three windows facing Lloyd Baker Street, while Number 42 has two windows facing Lloyd Baker Street and three windows facing Granville Street, where it is double-fronted.
Number 41 features a flat-arched entrance, set back under a porch with antae. Above the entrance is a single window, and the remaining bays have windows to each floor recessed within stucco panels. The ground-floor window is flat-arched, flanked by pilasters, and set back under a round arch with stucco impost blocks and archivolt. A stucco cornice and blocking course top the façade, with a dormer in the attic. A side stack is also present.
Number 42 has steps leading to a flat-arched entrance set back twice within stucco architraves, the outer architrave consisting of Doric pilasters and an entablature. All windows are flat-arched, with frames set in plain stucco surrounds, framed by gauged yellow brick. The central first-floor window is blank. Original sash windows are present in Granville Street, except for the ground-floor window on the left side. A stucco cornice and blocking course are present. The right-hand return in Lloyd Baker Street mirrors the forward bays of Number 41, with the addition of pilasters to the ground-floor windows. Cast-iron railings are located at the steps and area.
