Description

This is a row of eight houses, originally eleven, dating from around 1830. Built of stock brick with parapeted roofs and party wall stacks, they stand three storeys high with a basement. The central three houses (number 52, 54, and 56) project slightly forward. Each of these houses has a single window range at the first and second floor levels, featuring 6/6 sash windows with segmental heads set within recessed surrounds, and divided by recessed pilaster bands. The remaining houses (numbers 44, 46, 48, 50, and 58) have a two-window range at each level. The ground floor windows are also 6/6 sashes with segmental headed openings. The houses have panelled front doors. Plat bands are positioned between the ground and first, and again between the first and second floors. Original railings are still present along the front and to the steps of several of the properties. The group value of the houses is what led to their inclusion on the heritage register.
