Description

A row of 17 terraced houses forming a symmetrical crescent, built between 1846 and 1852. The houses are constructed of brown and yellow stock brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with stucco detailing to the basement, ground floor, and cornice. They have pitched slated roofs and party-wall stacks.

The houses are three storeys high, with a basement and some having attics, each featuring two windows. The ground floor is banded with stucco and has segmental arched sash windows, some with margin lights. A low flight of steps leads to a square-headed doorway to the left, featuring a panelled door flanked by plain pilasters supporting a corniced head. Above the door is a rectangular overlight with simple glazing bars, a rosette frieze, and a console bracketed cornice. Nos. 1 and 17 each have a side entrance with a stucco portico. The upper floor of brick has a stucco sill band, and the first floor features full-length, square-headed three-light sashes topped with single pediments, alternating with recessed architraved sashes. Cast iron window guards with palmette and rosette motifs are also present. The second floor has architraved square-headed sashes with lugged aprons. Stucco cornices are visible; nos. 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 16 exhibit blocking courses. Some houses have attics with dormers.
