Description

1-3 Wilton Villas and the attached railings are a group of terraced houses built between 1851 and 1852. They were developed by Edward Rowland and Thomas Evans. The houses are constructed of yellow brick laid in a Flemish bond pattern, with the roof hidden behind a parapet. They are two storeys high, with two windows on each floor. The basement is stuccoed. Steps lead to flat-arched entrances. Nos. 1 and 2 have a pediment supported by consoles above the entrance, whilst No. 3 has a cornice. Each entrance has an overlight and panelled door, and there are original railings to the steps of No. 3. All windows have segmental arches with plain stucco architraves, and balconies to the ground floor, with window guards at No. 3. A sill band runs along the first floor, topped by a stucco cornice and blocking course. A single-storey extension in yellow brick matches the rest of the building and projects from No. 3 towards Wilton Square. Cast-iron railings define the area.
