Terraced houses. c.1850. Developed by Henry Rydon and built in part by W.T.Catling. Yellow brick set in Flemish bond, stucco, roof obscured by parapet. Three storeys over basement, two windows each. Basement and ground floor stuccoed, the ground floor decorated with banded rustication. Steps up to flat-arched entrance with overlight; door with two tall panels on nos 25-26 and 33-39; no. 39 has railings flanking the steps and cornice on consoles. All windows flat-arched, those to the first floor having moulded stucco architrave and cornice on consoles, those to the second floor moulded stucco architrave only; window guards to first floor of nos 25-26, 30-31, 33-36 and 38-39. 6/6 sashes, with margin lights on ground floor, to nos 22-23 (second floor), 27-28 (second floor), 30-31 (ground and first floors), 32, 33 (ground and second floors), 34 (ground and first floors), 35 (first floor) and 36-39. Stucco cornice and blocking course. Mansard roof with dormer to no. 35; stacks to party walls. Cast-iron railings to steps and area. (Eric Willatts: Streets with a story.
