Description

Numbers 5-17 (odd) and attached railings are a group of terraced houses dating from the 18th century, built of yellow brick in a Flemish bond pattern. The roof is hidden behind a parapet. Each house has three storeys over a basement and originally had two windows. The window and door openings feature brick detailing with gauged brick heads. The south-facing entrance has a round-arched design with fluted and cabled pilasters, a cornice, a fanlight, and an original panelled door. The ground floor windows are round-arched while the upper floors have flat arches. A stack is located on the party wall between the houses.

Individual houses show variations; number 7 retains original sash windows to the ground and first floors. Numbers 9, 11, and 15 have blocked fanlights and replacement doors, though their ground floor sashes are original. Number 13 has original sash windows to the ground and first floors. Number 17 has been enlarged to incorporate the rebuilt number 19, now displaying five windows, one of which is segmental-arched on the ground floor, along with a separate service entrance. Cast-iron railings are present on the steps and area, although some have been replaced.
