Description
This is a continuous range of buildings on Highgate High Street, dating from the early to late 18th century. It originally comprised a series of houses, with later 19th-century and modern shop fronts added to the ground floor. The upper parts of the buildings are of simple brick construction and feature parapets. Most of the houses are two windows wide and two storeys high. Some of the properties have been heavily altered, including cement rendering and replacement facades. While many windows have lost their original glazing bars, they largely retain their original cased wooden frames. Despite the individual alterations, the consistent roofline and window line, along with the uniform character of the range, gives the building group significant visual importance within Highgate High Street. Nos 58 to 86 (even) are grouped together for listing purposes.
