Description

This embankment wall runs between numbers 20 and 36 on Upper Mall. It dates from around 1680 to 1690, and has undergone repairs and renewals since its construction. The wall is made of red brick, with two curving bastions and a stone coping. It was built during the time that the Queen Dowager Catherine of Braganza resided in Upper Mall.
