Description

This is a wall located on the street frontage of numbers 121-129 Fore Street in Hertford, dating from the late 17th century or early 18th century. It is constructed of orange-red brick laid in Flemish bond and stands approximately 2 meters high. The wall features projecting buttresses, a plat band, and tumbled brick coping. After 1984, four framed and battened doors were added when Christ's Hospital Girls' School vacated the site. The wall appears to be contemporary with the Entrance Gateway located further east, although it is separated from it by the Lodge. The total length of the wall along Fore Street is about 50 meters.
