Description

The garden wall at the rear of numbers 14, 16, and 18 on Church Street in Saffron Walden dates from the mid-19th century. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond and measures approximately 25 meters long, running north to meet the churchyard wall. The wall stands about 3.5 meters high and features a battered plinth topped with a pilaster buttress. The northern end of the wall has a base made of flint and rubble, along with one battered buttress. A prominent central plaque on the wall is inscribed with the initials J.C. and the year 1849.
