Description

The Hop Poles Public House, dating from 1857, is an amalgamation of two earlier houses with a lower wing to the right. The main block is three storeys high and built with brown brick, featuring a stucco modillion cornice and parapet. The ground floor is faced with granite and includes pilasters flanking the entrance doors. The first floor has two groups of three round-headed windows linked by a central, blank round-headed arch. Six round-headed windows are present on the second floor, each with stucco architraves and a continuous band at sill level. Rusticated quoins are also visible. The three-storey wing to the right has double-hung sash windows with stucco architraves under a cornice and parapet, and a strip pilaster on its right side.
