Description
Bradmore House, located on Queen Caroline Street, is a two-storey building constructed from buff stock brick with cut and rubbed red brick dressings, along with Portland stone accents. The exterior features a symmetrical façade with seven bays. The semi-circular headed windows are fitted with multi-pane sash windows. The central three bays are taller and slightly project forward, flanked by giant stone fluted pilasters in the Composite order. The brick entablature, restored in 1994, has an upswept design, and the three central bays are topped with a stone balustraded parapet adorned with urns. A perron stair, added in 1994, leads to the central round-arched entrance, which has a moulded cornice. Above this entrance, a window is framed by a pilastered surround with a Doric frieze. Each wing of the building features stone Doric angle pilasters.
The façade and the first-floor south-west room are of particular interest, while the rear section built in the 1990s is not considered special. Inside, the first-floor south-west room boasts full-height raised and fielded panelling, moulded dado rails, and three panelled doors set in tall round arches with panelled tympana, some of which are reproductions. The doors and windows are framed by Composite pilasters, and the cornice along with the spandrels of the door and window arches are richly decorated with carved foliage.
