Description
Nos 121 to 151 on Balls Pond Road, built in the early 19th century, feature a symmetrical design, although the west end has been lost. Each house has three storeys and a basement, with two windows on each floor. The east end and the center of the row have pediments, the latter inscribed with "BRUNSWICK PLACE 1812." The buildings are constructed of stock brick and have a parapet coping that transitions into a cornice band below the pediments.
The second-floor sash windows, which have glazing bars, are topped with gauged flat brick arches, while the first-floor windows have round arches, with a mix of sashes and casements featuring margin lights and patterned heads. Most of the first-floor windows lead to ornamental cast iron balconies, except for Nos 121-129, which do not have balconies. The ground floors are mostly stuccoed, with round arched windows. The entrances feature six-panel doors, some of which have been altered, accompanied by fluted quadrant pilasters and fanlights, some of which are patterned.
Notably, No 55 has had its windows significantly altered, while Nos 43 and 145 boast a double central prostyle porch supported by paired Doric columns. There are also some wrought iron area railings present. Nos 121 to 157 form a cohesive group.
