Description

These are a group of semi-detached houses dating from around 1830, likely designed by Amon Wilds and Charles Augustine Busby. They are constructed of stucco with slate and tile roofs. Each house has two storeys over a basement and a three-and-a-half-window range, with a shared blank window in the centre. A recessed entrance bay is present. The ground floor is decorated with banded rustication. Steps lead to flat-arched porches; Nos. 91-92 and 96 have Ionic columns while the remainder have engaged Doric antae, all incorporating entablatures, with those to Nos. 92 and 93 being wreathed. There is a flat-arched entrance with an overlight, and a panelled door of original design to No. 92. All windows are flat-arched, and a bracketed balcony with cast-iron railings featuring anthemion ornament is present on the ground floor. A storey band and bracketed eaves are also visible, along with a hipped roof containing a central stack. The interior remains uninspected. Low garden walls are constructed of brick and cobble, except for those associated with No. 92, which are stuccoed. These houses are relatively uncommon in Brighton.
