Description

This is an early 19th-century pair of buildings located on Dalston Lane. Dating to the second quarter of the 18th century, the buildings have undergone alterations. Each is three storeys high with a basement, and originally had three windows. They are constructed of stock brick, with No. 212 exhibiting a stuccoed cornice and blocking course. The upper part of No. 214 was rebuilt at some point. The ground floor and basement of No. 214 feature banded stucco, where the bands form the voussoirs of the windows. The first and second-floor windows are set within moulded architraves with cornices, and the first floor also has a swell frieze. All windows are sash windows with glazing bars. No. 212 has ornamental cast iron railings to its ground floor. The doors are of two long panels, each with a rectangular fanlight above, and are located within enclosed Doric porches with square columns. The buildings contribute to group value and are situated alongside Nos. 212 to 226 (even) on Dalston Lane.
