Description
This is a row of six early to mid-19th century terraced houses, numbered 5 to 23 Dericote Street. The terrace comprises five linked pairs, each house having two storeys and a basement. Each house originally had one window in the main block, and one in a recessed entrance link. The houses are built of stock brick, with some rebuilding of the upper parts. They are topped with a slate roof, featuring a pediment-like gable end facing the street. The windows have been replaced with sash windows, most with glazing bars, set within stucco reveals. The ground-floor windows are arched and recessed within rounded stucco surrounds. One original sash window with interlaced bars remains. The front doors are panelled, with four panels to each, set within quarter-column jambs. One pair of doors is fluted, and all have patterned fanlights above. The properties are fronted by a mix of wrought and cast iron area railings. Numbers 5 to 23 (odd) form a group with numbers 4 to 18 (even) on Dericote Street, and numbers 1 to 4 and 6 to 15 on Croston Street.
