Description

This is a row of four early to mid-19th century houses, numbered 41 to 55 Northchurch Road, London. The houses are linked, each being two storeys high with a full-height basement, and each originally featuring two windows. A narrow setback entrance link provides access via a long flight of steps. Additional front doors have been added to the basement level.

The houses are constructed of stucco, with low-pitched slate roofs. The basement level is banded and rusticated, forming voussoirs around the windows, with decorative keys. A band runs from the ground floor to the first floor, supporting Ionic pilasters that extend to the eaves. The first-floor sash windows have moulded architraves and glazing bars. Console bracketed cornices and ornamental cast iron railings are present on the ground-floor windows.

Numbers 37 to 63 (odd) on Northchurch Road are designated as a group.
