Description
No. 8 Lordship Road is an early 19th-century building located on an island site at the fork of the road, just north of Stoke Newington Church Street. The building has two storeys and features three windows. Its front is stuccoed with incised lines, while the sides are made of painted brick. The roof is low-pitched, hipped, and slate-covered, with a rounded shape above the rounded front. On the first floor, there is a recessed curved sash window with vertical bars, while the ground floor has been replaced by a casement window. There is a small doorway on the west side. An extension on the east side has a pointed arched window and is one bay wide. A one-storey south wing is constructed of stock brick and has a stone impost band and keystone inscribed with the year 1821, which frames a round arched recessed panel holding a six-panel door with a radial fanlight. Additionally, there are two small upper barred windows. This building was probably originally a Watch House.
