Description
The Armourers and Braziers Hall, located at No. 81 Coleman Street, is a Grade II* listed building completed in 1840 by architect J H Good. This modest classical structure is built of gault brick, featuring painted and Portland stone dressings. It stands two storeys high on a corner site, with a seven-window front that includes a row of four Doric pilasters supporting an enriched entablature and a parapet that is interrupted by a coat of arms. The building has a simpler entablature with blocking on either side. A decorative iron lamp hangs over the doorway, which is set on a pair of brackets. The re-entrant corner leads to a return façade with five windows and a central enriched doorway. The building is also scheduled as an Ancient Monument.
