Description

The Globe Public House is a public house built in the early 19th century, with the upper floors refronted in the 1870s and the ground floor altered in the late 20th century. The upper floors are finished in stucco and display an elaborate French classical style. The building has four storeys and cellars, featuring three windows on the front and a three-window return to London Wall. The ground floor has a modern public house frontage with recessed windows that include glazing bars, with entrances on both the Moorgate and London Wall facades.

The Moorgate facade is divided into two bays, each flanked by enriched pilasters on the first and second floors and quoins on the third floor. The first floor has stucco that is channeled to resemble ashlar; the left bay features a tripartite sash window supported by banded columns, topped with an entablature and a heavily enriched pediment. The right bay has two single sash windows of a similar style. The second and third floors have a similar arrangement, with windows that have shouldered architraves and enriched pediments. A main modillion cornice is present at the third floor level, along with a cornice and blocking course. The return to London Wall has single sashes that match the right bay. The interior was altered in the late 20th century.
