Description
The monument to Matthew Cotes Wyatt, who died in 1862, is located in Highgate (Western) Cemetery. It is a granite obelisk set on a square plinth. Wyatt was a prominent sculptor and decorative painter known for several significant works, including the Trafalgar Monument in Liverpool, the monument to Princess Charlotte in St George's Chapel, Windsor, as well as contributions to Belvoir Castle and an equestrian statue of the Duke of Wellington that was previously situated at Hyde Park Corner.
