Description
The monument to George Peckett is a tall octagonal obelisk, approximately five metres high, resembling an Eleanor cross. It features a heavily-moulded stone plinth, with a base and coping made of sandstone and granite in between. The plinth displays the names of the architect, metalworker, and mason. The lowest section of the copper-clad superstructure is decorated with a pattern of stamped quatrefoils and has a coat of arms in relief on each of its four sides. The upper section consists of a series of cusped Gothic canopies, topped with a spire that has lost parts of its copper decoration.
