Description

This is a terrace of eleven houses, built around 1843-1849 and altered later. They were constructed by W Broder. The houses are of yellow stock brick, with a rusticated stucco ground floor and a plain first-floor sill band. Each house has three storeys and a basement, and two windows. Numbers 34 and 42 are slightly recessed. The doorways have square heads with pilaster jambs supporting entablature-like heads. They feature fanlights and panelled doors. The architraved sash windows on the first floor have pediments and cast-iron balconies. Numbers 34 and 42 have square-headed sashes on the first floor, set within round-arched, architraved surrounds; the second-floor windows are round-arched, architraved sashes (Number 34 has margin lights). Numbers 28-32, 38 and 44 have parapets; numbers 34 and 42 have cornices and blocking courses, while the others have cut-back cornices. The interiors were not inspected. Attached to the front of the terrace are cast-iron railings with tasselled spearhead finials to the areas.
