Description

This is a terrace of eleven houses, built around 1842-9, and altered since. The houses are constructed of yellow brick with rusticated stucco to the ground floors, and a plain sill band to the first floor.

The houses are three storeys high, with basement levels. Each house has two windows, though number 23 has a bowed, single-window corner, and a three-window return (two being blind) facing Gough Street. Numbers 23, 25-27, 31, and 41-45 slightly project from the street line. The doorways have square heads with pilaster jambs supporting entablature-style heads. They feature overlights and panelled doors. Number 23 has a corner entrance with pilasters, a fanlight, side lights, and a panelled door; the return has a round-arched entrance with pilaster jambs supporting an entablature-style head, a fanlight, and a panelled door. The windows are architraved sash windows. The first-floor windows have pediments and cast-iron balconies. The ground-floor windows of numbers 25-43 have margin lights. The first-floor windows of numbers 29 and 37 have segmental pediments and cast-iron balconies, while the second-floor windows are round-arched with architraves. Number 23 has a stucco modillion cornice and a brick parapet with a stucco band; numbers 25, 27 and 31 have modillion cornices with blocking courses. The other houses have stucco cornices and blocking courses. The interior of the houses has not been inspected.

Attached cast-iron railings with urn finials mark the areas.
