Description

The North East Lodge and gates to Highgate (Western) Cemetery, built around 1838-1839 by Stephen Geary, is a single-storey structure designed in the Tudor Gothick style. The lodge is double fronted and features two windows. The entrance has chamfered reveals and a plank door, which is flanked by buttresses, each with two offsets. The windows are two-light casements with chamfered reveals. A parapet with coping rises to form two pediments on either side of a central stepped pediment, which includes a carved figure in a shallow niche and a string course below. There is a right-hand buttressed return with a similar entrance. The interior has not been inspected. The lodge is complemented by subsidiary features, including attached yellow brick piers with stone caps and cast-iron gates.
