Description

Numbers 1-8 comprise a terrace of eight houses dating to the early 19th century. The houses are built of yellow stock brick, with some later patching. They are four storeys high with basements, and each house has two windows, except for Number 8, which has a three-window return to Heathcote Street. Each house features a round-arched doorway, embellished with fluted quarter columns, cornice heads, and fanlights, with panelled doors. A single-storey extension provides an entrance to Number 8; this doorway has fluted pilaster jambs and a cornice head patterned with a Greek key design. There is a blind arcade above. Gauged brick flat arches top the recessed sash windows; the first floor windows are complemented by continuous cast-iron balconies. The houses have parapets. The interiors were not inspected. Attached cast-iron railings, surmounted by urn finials, define the areas.
