Description
24 and 25 Macklin Street is a former mortuary that has been converted into offices. It was built in the mid-19th century and features a main frontage facing Stukeley Street. The building is constructed of red brick with stone dressings, a cornice, and string courses. It has a tiled hipped roof adorned with decorated ridge tiles and is designed in the Gothic style. The structure is two storeys high and has an irregular double-fronted layout, with five ground floor windows and a two-window return, which includes a one-window splayed corner treatment.
A gabled entrance feature is present, showcasing an arched doorway with a double hood-mould, a fanlight, and double doors. Square-headed doorways with trefoil arches are located at each end of the building. The ground floor windows are designed with pointed arches and tracery, while the first floor features paired lancets. The interior was altered in the late 20th century.
